We understand that supporting students goes beyond the classroom, which is why we offer a variety of tools, services, and information to help families stay informed and engaged. This section provides easy access to the resources you need to support your child’s success throughout their educational journey. If you need more support, contact the main office or your child's teacher.

General Resources: 

A-Team Delaware

A-Team advocates for Delawareans with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) for these services: â€‹Housing Options (home or residential), Well-trained and well-paid aides (Direct Support Professionals), and Clinical services (Behavioral or nursing consultation). Autism Delaware

Delaware’s largest provider of advocacy, support, and services for people on the spectrum and their families and caregivers. Check out their Resource Directory 
 

Delaware Developmental Disability Council

Working to ensure that people with developmental disabilities enjoy the same quality of life as the rest of society.

 

Delaware Medicaid

Medicaid provides access to respite services and Home & Community based services such as a day program or employment supports, this is also a low-income medical insurance for families that meet that criteria

Delaware Network for Excellence in Autism

The Network- housed at the University of Delaware Center for Disabilities Studies is conducted in partnership with Autism Delaware and Nemours/ AI duPont Children’s Hospital – provides training, technical assistance, and information dissemination to professionals and organizations, as well as parent training and family navigation services. It works to leverage resources and expertise among its members and other organizations to realize its goals.

Division of Developmental Disability Services

DDDS supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live their good lives by accessing services they need to thrive in their community. In a partnership with the Columbus Organization, individuals are assigned to a Community Navigator who provides Targeted Case Management with the goal of supporting individuals in the context of their families. A Community Navigator supports by working with the family in developing a Person-Centered Plans (PCP) that captures the needs and goals of the individual and family unit; helping to identify community resources for unmet needs; assisting families to learn about eligibility-based services. The Community Navigator is the individual’s key contact with DDDS. Students and parents need to remain in contact with their Community Navigator on a regular basis to avoid gaps in services.

Supports families, promotes community involvement, and encourages a lifetime of opportunities for people with Down syndrome through advocacy, education and awareness. 

Easterseals

Easterseals Delaware & Maryland's Eastern Shore provides exceptional services, education, outreach, and advocacy so that people with disabilities, seniors, their families and caregivers can live, learn, work and play in our communities. 

Managed Care Organization (MCO) Call

If you have questions or would like to discuss concerns, issues or gaps in services with your child’s Medicaid MCO providers, Highmark Health Options, AmeriHealth Caritas, or Delaware First Health, join Parent Information Center of Delaware and MCO Representatives on this monthly MCO call, and let your voice be heard.

Paratransit

Students attending the Meadowood Transition Program (MTP) use Paratransit services to travel back and forth from school each day.  Students are encouraged to apply for services during their 10th and 11th grade years while attending McKean so they have an opportunity to practice.
