EPIC is a community based program for members with physical, intellectual, and developmental disabilities to exercise, learn about healthy living options, and build social skills. Classes include Strength, Yoga, YMCA-integrated lessons on Education, Nutrition, and Social Skills.
ExpO is a caregiver-led nonprofit in New Castle County, DE for neurodiverse peers (18+) with low-support needs and their caregivers. ExpO holds monthly meetings and organizes a variety of activities in the community based on what members enjoy or want to try. Through fun and skill-building activities, ExpO seeks to improve options and quality of life for individuals and their families; they are not a respite organization.
Brandywine Social Club (BSC) offers programs and activities to adults with minimal emotional, intellectual, and physical disabilities through weekly activities that promote the social and personal growth of its members. Participants meet new friends and engage in activities each month including movie night, going out to dinner, participating in healthy activities at the Brandywine YMCA, etc.
Best Buddies Citizens Program supports the development of friendships between adults with and without IDD in corporate and civic communities. Many people with IDD have limited opportunities for social interactions after they leave the school environment. This program helps people with IDD become part of mainstream society and creates an inclusive and diverse community for all.
e-Buddies provides opportunities for volunteers with and without IDD to develop friendships online and create connections using the power of technology. The program provides the opportunity for members to connect through the e-Buddies social platform, which is designed to expand friendships and create shared experiences through virtual social events. Anyone age 13 and older can participate in e-Buddies.
Community Fitness Fridays is a complimentary program in partnership with Delaware Special Olympics. This volunteer-supported initiative at HAC offers individuals with special needs or disabilities a chance to build healthy exercise habits in a welcoming and supportive environment. Special Olympics of Delaware provides sports programs at no cost to individuals ages 2 and older (no upper age limit) all throughout the state
Federal Park Pass is a free, lifetime pass available to United States citizens or permanent residents, regardless of age, that have a permanent disability that can be used at over 2,000 Federal recreation sites across the nation, including National Parks, National Wildlife Refuges, and many National Forest lands.
Eligible with Medicaid for individuals 14-25 years old. Provides Employment Navigator, internship opportunities, workplace support, and other employment supports. Students should establish a connection with their Employment Navigator through Pathways to Employment and participate in work-based assessments to determine skills and areas of support that might be needed.
Low cost savings plan that allows individuals with disabilities and their families to save for a broad range of expenses on a tax-advantaged basis without jeopardizing their benefits from supplemental security income (SSI), Medicaid and other federal programs

The Center for Special Health Care Needs is the only center in the greater Delaware area dedicated to providing primary care for adults ages 18 and older with complex medical and social conditions that originated in childhood. The Center brings together a team of medical experts in one convenient location to provide a flexible, innovative and individualized approach to each patient’s care.
PPDE provides a wide range of education and training services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), their caregivers and the professionals who serve them.
Apply/reapply for SSI and Medicaid. Students should have their own SSI and Medicaid accounts based on their disability, not parents’ income – this will determine eligibility for future services.
The Delaware Disability Hub (DelDHub) website was created to assist students in the transition years, their parents or caregivers and professionals by providing resources, connections, guidance and information from around the country.
Students are strongly encouraged to get their ID before turning 18 years old since additional documents are required if the individual is 18 or older. To see a list of documents required, click here.
Students attending the Meadowood Transition Program (MTP) use Paratransit services to travel back and forth from school each day. Students are encouraged to apply for services during their 10th and 11th grade years while attending McKean so they have an opportunity to practice.
